At our September 12, 2017 Beacon Hill Council community meeting, a group of neighbors made a presentation about a proposal for a 4-story, 40+ unit building at 1807 13th Ave S. across the street from the Beacon Hill Playground and Beacon Hill International School. There is currently a 4-unit apartment building on the site. The "micro-apartments” in the proposed building are to be approximately 240 sq. ft. each with no parking provided. All the residents in the current building would be displaced.
The presenters shared an information flyer and petition to compel the Seattle Department of Construction (DCI) and Inspections about this project before allowing it to proceed. Without a forum, our Beacon Hill community voices cannot be heard.
To date, over 240 people have signed a petition asking the City of Seattle and the developer to reconsider this project and approximately 20 neighbors have written protesting the permitting of the project. You can view the submitted documents for the proposal and the letters at http://www.seattle.gov/dpd/toolsresources/Map/detail/default.htm?lat=47.58668656&lon=-122.31634157&addr=1807,,,13TH,AVE,S under the “Documents” tab.
Our community attendees voted for our Beacon Hill Council Board to: 1) write a letter to Seattle DCI in support of a public meeting on the proposed development and 2) to have us share the petition and flyer with our members via email and website.
We are implementing the will of our community by informing you of this issue and attaching the flyer and the petition. (please see below) Please review this information and fully consider writing a letter and/or signing the petition. Should you have any questions, please contact Beacon Hill Neighbor Kristyn Joy firstname.lastname@example.org or (206) 327-0324. Thank you.
